Let’s get back on the road in 2022. We are planning a fourth Football Weekends break – this time to sunny Lisbon!

Yes, we are lining up a four night trip to the Portuguese capital at the end of February with the highlight being a Benfica match at the Estadio Da Luz!

We are all yearning to enjoy some European football again and I would love you to join us for this trip! It’s a chance to see one of the famous European clubs at their impressive 65,000 capacity home, the venue for the Euro 2004 final.

More information

Find some more information about football breaks to Lisbon.

It’s a group break but there will be plenty of opportunities to do your own thing. There will be a welcome gathering on Friday, we will attend the matches together, and a special tour is planned for Monday but the rest of the time is your own – feel free to spend it with other members of the party or do your own thing. Explore the city, enjoy the nightlife, visit other stadiums. Your choice!

Our previous three trips have attracted a wide age group, united with a common love of football and travel. We will offer advice on other lower league matches taking place in the region over the weekend.

Here’s a few of the comments we received after our earlier trips!

‘The perfect football weekend, one we will never forget’ – Alan

‘Great to meet up with other groundhoppers after traveling solo most of the time’ – Kieran

‘A great introduction to German football. Superbly organised and hassle-free. Highly recommended’ – Steve

‘Jim was an ideal host who was very helpful and knowledgeable’ – Graham & Melinda

This trip is for four nights. This is to accommodate all possible fixture dates and times as matches in the Portuguese league are spread from Friday to Monday. It is fairly unlikely Benfica will play on Monday but we would rather ensure we have all days covered! And none of us will surely object to a slightly longer weekend in hopefully sunnier climes!

You’ll want to choose the best flight routes and times that work for you so we let you make your own arrangements: flights are not included in this package. However, we can make and book flights for you if you wish (we simply add a handling commission to the flight price).

We would advise that your outbound flight should arrive in Lisbon by early/mid-afternoon to allow for the possibility of a Friday night match.

There are regular flights from UK and Irish airports to Lisbon.

The price for this trip is a very competitive £379 per person, based on two sharing a twin/double room. The single supplement is £90.

The following is included in the price:

4 night stay at 3* Lisbon city centre hotel including breakfast

Welcome drink & meeting and fun quiz

City public transport pass for the duration of your stay (including to and from airport)

Hospitality ticket to Benfica - Vitória Guimarães in the Primeira Liga including:

  • Match ticket lower longside
  • Benfica museum entry
  • Food & drink voucher
  • Benfica store discount

Short city tour and lunch on final day

The following are NOT included in the price:

  • Flights
  • Meals other than those stated above
  • Additional games (these will be offered when the fixture times are confirmed)
  • Any Covid tests

Of course Covid remains with us. We are confident everything will go ahead, but we would advise anybody considering going that requirements in Europe generally insist that visitors to football stadiums are fully vaccinated, and may also be required to show a negative antigen test.

We would also strongly advise that appropriate travel insurance is taken out and that flights are purchased with an option to cancel/change.
